Yes. A mile-building cruise is not a course and you do not need a certificate to join. It is ideal for building miles, refreshing your skills before your next course or trying a longer passage.
Confirmation of the miles you sailed. They count towards the experience the RYA recommends before the Day Skipper, Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster courses.
Usually 200 to 250 nautical miles on a mile-building cruise. On a regular course it is around 100 miles, because the focus there is practising manoeuvres.
An instructor leads the cruise and the work on deck is shared according to what each person can do. Beginners learn as they sail, more experienced crew stand watches. You sleep and cook on board, and should expect night sailing.
