VHF Radio operator Certificate
A course and exam for anyone who owns a fixed or handheld marine VHF radio.
A radio is an important piece of safety equipment on board and it is vital to
understand the correct procedures. The Short Range Certificate is the minimum
qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and VHF Digital
Selective Calling (DSC) equipment on any British flagged vessel voluntarily
fitted with a radio either fixed or hand held.
The course is entirely taught in english language.

Price: The course cost is 160 euros/pp + 70 GBP (cca 80 euros) that is payed directly to RYA for the exam
Duration: There is 2 hrs pre-course learning part, the course itself consists of full day (8 hrs) learning sessions + 1 hour exam that must be done on some other day (usually the following one)
Publications: The RYA VHF Handbook (hard copy or eBook) is included in the price of the course

The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) sailing qualifications have been voted the premiere sailing accreditation for excellence and global reputation following a recent survey targeting 200 professional yacht and motorboat charter companies. The professional charter companies that were surveyed own and manage in excess of 6,000 charter boats across the Mediterranean, Caribbean and Asia.
