The Royal Yachting Association is the UK governing body representing sailing, windsurfing, motor boating, powerboating and personal watercraft, at sea and on inland waterways. It works for the good of all who enjoy these activities, campaigning for their interests at local, regional, national, European and world level.
The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) was founded in November of 1875 under the name of Yacht Racing Association (YRA) and in 1953 at the request of the royal family renamed the RYA – Royal Yachting Association. RYA today plays a key role in the worldwide racing and recreational sailing and trains annually on average 185,000 people in its 2220 training centers in more than 20 countries. The largest number of schools, in addition to Great Britain, is to be found also in Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Meditteranean, etc.. The certificates are now the most renowned skipper certificates for both sail and motor yachts around the world and its syllabus of teaching and testing is currently considered as the best standard in the world.

RYA Sailing Accreditation Rated as the World’s Best
The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) sailing qualifications have been voted the premiere sailing accreditation for excellence and global reputation following a recent survey targeting 200 professional yacht and motorboat charter companies. The professional charter companies that were surveyed own and manage in excess of 6,000 charter boats across the Mediterranean, Caribbean and Asia.
